To meet the demands of forestry professionals looking to increase productivity on the job, John Deere has announced the development of the FR27 Disc Saw Felling Head. It will now be included standard on the John Deere 953M and 959M Feller Bunchers, and is available as an upgrade on the 853M, 859M, and 903M Feller Bunchers.
The FR27 Disc Saw Felling Head can handle everything from large single-stem cutting to mid-sized accumulation. The high rotation felling head is also designed to boost productivity with a cutting capacity of up to 27.2 inches. Its accumulation capacity reaches 7.5 feet.
"By introducing a larger felling head solution to our line-up with the FR27, we are providing our customers with a larger, more durable attachment to help increase their bottom line," said Jim O'Halloran, global product marketing manager of tracked feller bunchers and harvesters and disc saw felling heads at John Deere. "The newly designed FR27 enables loggers of all experience levels to tackle even the most ambitious jobs confidently, knowing their machines are built to endure larger timber and excel in various forestry applications."
The FR27 Disc Saw Felling Head has an updated frame with a tall horn, continuous hose routings, and long harvesting arms, which all make for a more accessible machine clean-out. The hardened saw housing wear plates also now come standard. With a large side chip exhaust chute, build-up and clogging is reduced. This ultimately limits downtime and boosts productivity.
Customers can now order the FR27 Disc Saw Felling Head on the 800 and 900 M-Series Feller Bunchers. More information on all of Deereās forestry equipment can be found from your local John Deere dealer.
